It's that time of year again. For those of you that celebrate
Christmas or even Hanukkah, you're probably
knee deep in holiday preparations.

The tree or menorah, the hopes of a white Christmas- (for those of us in areas where it's possible), making sure you have just the right gifts for just the right person- it's the best time of the year.
It's the time of year that's set aside for family and friends. If you have kids,
this time of year is pure magic. For this shoot I thought I would bring in
the most important man in my life- my husband, Dee Morgridge.

So, onto We <3 RP
This dress was a gift under the tree at the event. It also came with some jewelry, but
I wanted to mix and match a bit.
Like I said, the dress was a gift for the update group of We <3 RP.
It's under the tree as soon as you teleport in. Both
The dress and the bracelet are designed by The Plastik!

The Fantasy Collective

Originally, I was going to blog about a Game of Thrones
sim. Unfortunately, I wasn't able to get enough
information about that sim, but I haven't given up. ;)

Instead, I hit the Celestial round of
There's a ton of awesome stuff this round.
A bunch of the role play world's favorite creators
have a stall. Honestly, I wanted everything.

I like this look though. It's dark and versatile.
The dress is almost fully customizable. The colors are
fairly limited- only coming in black and white. However,
the areas and textures that you can play with
can give you a pretty original look.

That moment a scene is ruined by OOC chat...

Alright, well this whole post won't be focused on
Out Of Character (OOC) chat.
I did find some great stuff at the new round of Fantasy
Gacha Carnival and was able to pair it all with
items already existing in my inventory.

Skin- !Imabee- Calaerneth
Hands- SLink- Elegant
Hair- Exile- Rising Dawn in Dark Blondes
Shoulders- Aisling- Lady of High Garden Shoulders
Mask- Illusions- Civetta Musica mask
Earrings- Mandala- Polly Earings

Dress- Luas- Oriana blue/gold @ Fantasy Gacha Carnival
Alright, now for the OOC chat part of my post.
This does not apply if you're on one of those community "RP not required" sims.
I have tried to review so many sims since my last post
and wound up leaving with nothing to go on. "Why?" you ask.
The people that I was able to find in RP areas were to busy talking about OOC things
to actually RP. For those of you that are new to the world of RP,
any and all OOC chat should be not only minimized, but
if OOC does take place, there should be double parenthesis around
what you are saying out of character. So, for example, your emote should be typed like
so.... /me reaches for the glass of water.
If the moment takes you to say something OOC it should look like this...
(( Ha! I see what you did there!))

Now, I don't mean to offend anyone with this post, and if you do talk
OOC often during your scenes, fine. But if I'm there and parathansis aren't
being used to designate between the two, I am 100% that I'm going to have
to leave out of sheer confusion. I can't keep it straight!

I should say that this post was more of a cautionary tale to new players.
Learn from other people's mistakes and don't get sloppy. If you want to hold an entire
conversation with the person or people your in the scene with, IM or group chat!
END RANT

Dress- The Annex- Snow Queen Gown- @ Fantasy Gacha Carnival

Now for a note on these pictures... I took them at a sim that I'm fairly sure that I
want to blog. But more research is necessary. So stay tuned and till then,
have fun role-playing. And remember, keep OOC and IC separate!

I took the time to hang out on a new
medieval fantasy sim today.

Let me start by saying that I was really impressed
by the over all look of the sim. Very well designed.

I was fortunate enough to be able
to talk to a couple players that call the sim home.
One of these players was able to boast
two years on the sim! I'm sure I don't have to tell you how rare that is.
When I asked her why she had chosen to stay
on the sim for that long, she said that she felt like her character mattered.
The sim is a small sim. It doesn't have as many players
as many other medieval fantasy sims that RPers are familiar with. However,
its big enough to find and make RP, yet small enough that each individual
character and story is important.

Wings- MiaMai::- Battle Fairy Wings- @ We <3 RP
According to the players that I was able to speak to,
the sim sometimes has sim wide RPs for players to immerse themselves in, the
most recent resulting in the gates of hell being opened, releasing demons, and the ultimate
destruction of the elven city.
The last thing I was able to learn that really stuck with me was
the fairness of the admin and owner. They facilitate and encourage
individual story lines. To often on RP sims, it happens that admin tend to suppress
story lines while taking liberties with their own. Apparently, that doesn't happen here.

Headpiece- [Keystone]- Forged Laurel
My over all recommendation is to give it a shot. In fact,
I have been looking for a sim to call home myself.
I'm going to go work on my character sheet right now. See you in Estara!

A note on my absence

First, let me apologize to all my readers for my absence these past few weeks. I can explain.

On October 22nd at 2:17 in the afternoon, I gave birth to a beautiful baby girl. Labor was no problem. No complications. I didn't even get pain medication, a fact that I am very proud of.

Of course, these past two weeks since her birth, I've nearly blogged several times, only to fail miserably and wind up falling asleep at the computer. In fact, as I type this, I'm fighting back yawn after yawn and counting down the minutes till my little girl wakes up again.

This is all made all the more difficult given the fact that I also have a 4 year old girl, a 2 year old boy, and a 15 month old boy. But, now I hope to be getting back in the swing of things.

I haven't had time to review any sims, a fact in which I hope to remedy soon. So I just hit this month's FaMESHed and and nabbed a look that could pass as vintage or modern. Make sure you get there this round. There's tons of awesome stuff.

Mystic Realms Fair & Other News

Hello again, readers!
Before I go any further, let me put out there that you
have a chance to win a date with me!
I entered the Havenhallow date auction. Just come in and bid.

Now on to the meat and potatoes.
Mystic Realms Fair!

Now unfortunately, my real life has been super hectic lately, limiting
the time I've been able to spend running around
the fair and scooping up goodies to blog. However, I did get this
one charming school set from Lilith's Den @ Mystic Realms Fair

I think the set is quite nice. It can be used in almost any setting- fantasy, medieval, etc. I really like
the chalk writing on the black board portions of the furniture.

The set is 50% off for the fair. A really nice aspect I found with both the chairs and the blackboard
is the fact that the writing is able to
modified according to the owner's taste. Pictured here are just a few of what's actually available.

So there you have it!
Meet me at the fair!

Better Late Than Never

So yes, I am acutely aware that this post
is late. RL has been insane. More on that another time...
maybe.

Anywho... this week, I wanted to review a sim. The winning sim is....

I personally love the Mass Effect Citadel trees. ;)
The lore is set in the future. Space travel, aliens, etc, are common.
In fact, Earth is basically a hell hole.
From the lore notecard...

"Earth is a ghetto ass dust ball and your trying to survive either in the wastelands, or the city of this one specific sector by getting a job, fighting one another, and/or scavenging, go wild."

As far as races go, you can pretty much be anything that
you want. Want to be a furry? Play as a Mytharii, Splicer, or a Mutant.
The options are seemingly endless.

As far as the RP goes that I witnessed. It seems to be largely made up
of para RP players. The quality is mostly good, although,
as on any sim, I did run in to a few that made me cringe.

My advice, as always, is to slap on an observer tag and go check it out.
It might be just what you're looking for.

Enjoy!

I promised I would be back with more from the Medieval Fantasy Fair,
so here I am! First, let me thank all the awesome creators out there
that reached out to me with their awesome stuff.
Without all of you, this blog might not be so pretty.

Anyway... Opening day for the Medieval Fantasy Fair was
today! I was on sim for a little and it looked like it
was off to a good start. So if you visited, awesome! If you didn't,
you should.

In the picture above, my avvie is wearing a really subtle fur
tattoo layer. Subtle is usually better. The fur can be found at the
Medieval Fantasy Fair and it's made by Even Tide. I'm also wearing
patches from the same store, but you can't see it in that shot,
which brings us too...

The only thing different in her outfit in this shot from the other is the patches
on her back Again, subtle. This is a gacha prize.
The other thing about this shot is the totem poles. They're made by Lilith's Den,
also found at the fair. Really well done.

And lastly...

Hopefully, for my next blog, I will be focusing on a more
modern, apocalyptic feel. Remember! If you have a sim
you think I should review, let me know!

Exciting news and previews!

 Exciting news!!
I've been asked to blog for the Medieval Fantasy
Fair and Hunt! The theme this round is Nordic myths and legends.
There is a ton of stuff, so you should definitely check it out.
It only runs from Sept 20- Sept 28, 2014, so go ASAP.

The picture above was taken on the fair's sim. The sim looks great.
Because you can't see my avatar's outfit all that well, I'll get in to the look in greater
detail later. I will say, though, that the bow and arrow I'm wearing are from
Southpaw (the same place that created my ears!) And both the
weapon and ears are found at the fair. The bow is
powered by A&D and comes with instructions. So it's not just a pretty decoration.

Moving on!
At the fair, they are celebrating and featuring an up and coming artist by
the name of Svala Moragdóttir (jasmin.lavecchia). She
creates scenes for use on RP sims. The three featured scenes, (pics below!), are
totally exclusive to the fair and will not be found again after. So get
it while the getting is good.
For those of you that can't tell, this is a birthing scene.
It is fairly graphic, but really good work. Maybe not for use on PG sims.

Fight scene in front of burning tent. Yes, that woman is bloody,
and yes, that man is dead.

Slave cart. Enough said.
So, as you can tell, the scenes are worth the buy.

Last picture!!

all I could get in to one post! Happy shopping!

The Isle of Dee- a different kind of RP

This week, I'm blogging a new type of RP sim.
The name of the sim itself is The Isle of Dee. The owners
describe the sim as a "life style" sim.
What makes Dee so unique is the approach in which they take to
rp. It's extremely casual. You can rent a place on the sim
and choose to live your character, or show up and socialize out of character (OOC).

The sim is medieval fantasy based and is perfect for anyone
new to rp. You can be almost anything you choose, from drow, to elves,
humans, gypsies, pixies, and anything else you can dream of. More info
here.

Dee has events all the time, including a weekly bard telling,
constant hunts, and other events. Well... this will
explain it in the word's of the creators of this unique world.

My recommendation is to visit the sim. Even if
the style isn't for you, the scenery is great, and there's a lot of great shops
to check out. If you're new to roleplaying and you need a comfortable place
to get started, this is place is perfect for you.

Tips for RPing- whether you're new or seasoned.

My favorite thing about Second Life is the ability to assume
any character you want to be or play.
Always wanted to be a mermaid when you were younger? Go for it! Always thought
you belonged in the middle ages? Try it out!
You can even just be a regular person doing regular, every day things.
The choice is yours.

But often, people need tips on what to do or how to get started. So that's what I'm dedicating
this week to.

1.Read up on the "sim lore" or story and their rules.
If you don't read up on the lore, you will never know what works for your character.
You wouldn't want to be shooting guns in a medieval sim.
Some sims have certain ways of doing combat and their own rules.
Read before you go any further.

2. Observe the sim!
Make sure you like how the players RP. Observing can
also give you an idea where to go with your character.

3. Create a character.
Create a character that works with the sim. Don't bring a cyborg
to a medieval sim. Make sure your character
has flaws as well as strengths. No one is indestructible, neither should your
character be.

4. Don't be afraid to IM players or admin.
Whether it's a question about lore or the sim in general, communicate!
This is especially important for sims that are heavily
based in family RP, i.e. Game Of Thrones. Sometimes,
you may even want to IM people to ask if they're there before
starting a scene, especially if they're not already in the middle of a scene.

5. Wait a second before joining any scene.
You walk up on a group of two or more people already RPing. Wait until they've posted
until you "post in". Pick up on any clues as to what's going on.
You wouldn't want to walk up and do something silly, only to find out later
that character was bleeding in the street or there was a fight
going on. Find out what's up first and respond accordingly.

6. You go to the RP, don't trust it to come to you!
This is a complaint I constantly hear out of seasoned players. They leave a sim because
"the RP dried up." Chances are that they're staying in one spot waiting
for a scene to find them. Walk around. RP that your character is getting some fresh air.
Chances are pretty good that you'll find something that way.

7. Keep IC and OOC seperate!
What happens to your character is in character (IC) and should never be confused
with what happens to you out of character (ooc). If someone snubs your
character or doesn't like your character, don't assume that they
feel that way about you. Help avoid so much drama!

The Iron Throne

Skin- Zara- America Glam Affair

Scar- Corvus
Hands- Elegant SLink
Headpiece- Nouveau Headdress (We <3 RP!) Folly

Pose- Vanity Poses

So for my first blog ever, I decided to blog on a review a sim that I've been playing on for the last few months. It's a Game of Thrones sim- The Iron Throne.

The Iron Throne is set in the year 210. A disease called the Spring Sickness of 209 has wiped out the Targareyans, killing off the previous royals. After a stay in an encampment, waiting for the sickness to "die out", (excuse the pun), they (players) have returned to King's Landing. On the throne is Tyran Lannister and his wife Ariella Lannister nee Tully. More lore information here.

On my first day on the sim, I was immediately struck with how nice everything looked, even though I was there for the first time during the encampment period. Everywhere were tents for the houses. The the middle was an inn, with a market and stables outside. Of course, I IMed some admin to see which houses were still in need of people. My choice was to play a Tully. My experience with the admin at countless other sims have often left me with a bad taste in my mouth. I have never felt like that here, even months later. Usually because some god complex or another comes to light fairly quickly. The application process is smooth. There were a couple things wrong with my app the first time around, due to things going on in story that I couldn't have known. So the app handler sent me a message and helped me fine tune my app. After that, it went smoothly. As I started RPing, it was immediately clear that the bulk of the players on the sim knew what they were doing. The challenge of matching wits and growing yourself in RP is refreshing. The only downside I can see come more from being a female character playing in a world ruled by men. Growing your story is possible and encouraged. Around every corner is someone willing to help you meet your goals.

My recommendation? Visit the sim, observe some awesome RP. Don't be afraid to IM anyone with questions.

I hope you find the RP of your dreams!
